About Us

MISSION STATEMENT
VSSN is a Nepal-based, Nepali community-owned volunteering organization dedicated to providing year-round volunteering programs for international volunteers to interact in the development process by involving them in different activities which support enriching the lives of deprived children and women, mainly education and health issues.

We believe that well prepared and good guided volunteers combining with well managed program can make very positive changes in our society.

HISTORY
Volunteer Service and Support Nepal (VSSN) was established in 2004. Since it's establishment it is working actively to meet it's mission. Hundreds of volunteers from all over the world have contributed in its development programs. We are successfully running our programs to date.

WHO WE ARE?
We are a non-governmental organization (NGO) that raises and saves funds from participants fees to provide programs and services to children and families, schools, orphanages, health centers and local clubs. VSSN was founded by a group of development specialists, social workers, cultural and tourism experts with the help of ex-volunteers.
VSSN is registered with Nepal Government as an NGO. Registration No: 1333-065

Voluntary work in Nepal can be an extremely rewarding and life-changing experience; Volunteers will receive a warm welcome from Nepali people from arrival to throughout the stay. Furthermore they will live and work in one of the world's most mixed of culture, with geography that ranges from the peak of the Himalaya to the tropical heat of the flat Tarai; from the chaos of Kathmandu to the tranquility of the many rural villages. Volunteers will get the maximum benefit and personal reward from VSSN programs, in conjunction with many local Nepali people.

PROGRAM CO-ORDINATOR

Matrika Rijal
Matrika was born in the eastern part of Nepal, Ilam district. Now he lives in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu. He has 25 years of working experience in local and international organizations including UMN, UN, ILO, FAO, DFID, SNV, SPW, SDC, GTZ,  etc.  He started his career as a Nepali language instructor for foreigners, he received training from LTI and Peace Corps Nepal and worked with development workers and expats. His recent remarkable service was Club Secretary (2021-22) for Rotary Club of Bhadgaon, affiliated with Rotary International District 3292. He is also founder chairman of Nepal Cottage Resort P. Ltd. located in Paknajowl, Thamel, Kathmandu.
