Bardia national park (968 sq km) is the largest and peaceful conservation area situated in Nepal’s Western Terai. It was established in 1988 for protecting the representative ecosystems and conserving the habitat of tiger and its prey species .The park and local communities jointly manage the buffer zone, together they initiate community development activities and manage natural resources in the buffer zones.

It is about 6- hour bus ride, and 15-minute flight from the capital. The total area of this park is measured as 932 sq. KM. The park includes hilly areas of the Siwalik range covered by deciduous saal forest and captured with grass, savannah and riverine vegetation.
